Imperial Hunting Dagger by Eickhorn

German Imperial Hunting dagger – Hirschfänger made by Carl Eickhorn in Solingen. Clean flat hunting blade with light corrosion spots and sharpening near the tip. Eickhorn double squirrel logo used until 1921 stamped on the backside of the blade. The green felt buffer pad is still attached. The scabbard body has two blued steel fittings, both with scalloped edges secured to the body with one staple each. Underneath each staple is the proof number. The bottom scabbard fitting has denting on the backside. The handle has a blued steel decorative guard, plain blued steel ferrule, stag horn grip, and plain blued steel pommel top securing the hilt with a ball screw to the tang. The stag horn remains chip and crack-free, featuring nice colors with obvious age toning. Overall, this is a rare piece, missing from most collections.
