Transitional period production HJ fahrtenmesser made by J.A.Henckels in Solingen. Good condition magnetic steel hilt. Black bakelite grip plates held on by two nickel rivets. Intact grip emblem with no cracks in the enamel. The emblem moves when touched. Clean steel blade showing light cleaning marks. This model did not have a motto on the blade. The backside of the blade is stamped with the Henckels makers mark together with the Henckels RZM code M7/10 and the date of production “1939”. The black leather buffer pad is still tightly in place around the blade. The steel scabbard has 99% of its original black paint left with some scratches. The inside of the scabbard has two scabbard runners, lined with white cloth. The stiff black leather belt loop is one of the best looking belt loops I have seen. The snap button is intact. The backside of the leather beltloop is stamped with the leather stamp “LFS”. A stunning transitional piece.
