Transitional HJ knife by Hartkopf – M7/40

Transitional period production HJ fahrtenmesser made by Hartkopf & Co in Solingen. Good condition nickel plated zinc hilt. Black bakelite grip plates held on by two steel rivets. Intact grip emblem with no cracks in the enamel. The emblem moves when touched. Clean steel blade showing most of the original cross grain. Light sharpening to the tip of the blade. This model did not have a motto on the blade. The backside of the blade is stamped with the Hartkopf makers mark together with the Hartkopf RZM code M7/40. The black leather buffer pad is still tightly in place around the blade. The steel scabbard has 95% of its original black paint left. The stiff leather belt loop and snap button are intact. The snap button has the well know star symbol and is “Stocko” marked on the inside.
