M42 Trench knife by Tiger

Rare German WW2 M42 combat knife made by Tiger. Wooden grip plates held on by two steel rivets. One piece constructed steel blade in worn condition with corrosion marks and sharpening. The backside of the blade is stamped on the ricasso with the Tiger Solingen makers mark. The blade is hand engraved on the frontside with “3. Hanseat. Inf. Rgt. 162” and on the backside “Weltkrieg 1915/18”. This engraving done by the soldier refers to his time in the first world war. The steel scabbard has been repainted black and is missing the clip on the backside.
