Early M42 Trench Knife by Eickhorn

First production M42 combat knife made by Carl Eickhorn with the rare plastic belt loop scabbard variant. Wooden grip plates held on by three steel rivets. One-piece steel construction knife with a lightly corroded blade. The backside of the blade is stamped with the 1941 Carl Eickhorn logo. Beautiful grain on the wood. Rare scabbard variant with plastic belt loop. Used in 1942 on these knives and on some HJ knives as well. The belt loop is in good condition with one crack on the top as can be seen in the pictures. Original black-painted steel scabbard.
